The three Presidencies hold a meeting and confirm the restriction of arms by the state

The three Presidencies held a meeting in which they stressed the restriction of weapons by the state and the protection of diplomatic missions.

The Presidency of the Republic said in a press statement that “President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Al-Halbousi, held a meeting at the Peace Palace in Baghdad this evening.”

The Presidency said that the meeting discussed the amendment of Article (58) of the budget law, and it was decided during the meeting to grant more time to the government until 24-10-2019, (the end of the year of the life of the government) in order to choose personalities to run state institutions, and ending the file of the administration by proxy and support the government in choosing the best in accordance with the principle of efficiency and integrity and achieve national balance away from quotas.

The statement pointed out that “the meeting discussed the document of the national framework for a unified Iraqi policy,” noting that “the participants stressed the need to limit the arms by the state, and work to protect and strengthen national sovereignty and to respond with all force to those who want to engage Iraq in conflicts outside for the interest of the people. “

According to the statement, they stressed the need to establish balanced relations with the Arab, regional and international environment in accordance with the national interest.”

The three presidencies reaffirmed their “importance of protecting diplomatic missions in Iraq and taking deterrent legal measures against those who attempt to tamper with the security and safety of these missions and their presence in Iraq.”
