Third Arab Women Leadership Forum to open this month

_: Nick Nadal, director, Hawkamah said: “Diversity at the board level is an important element of good corporate governance as an overly homogeneous board can provide an insufficiently challenging environment for decision-making. A board has responsibility for oversight of the performance of a company’s business and operations and it needs to constantly challenge itself to keep pace with the changing dynamics a company faces. Diversity means that a board is more capable of seeing and understanding risks and come up with robust solutions to address them. Hawkamah welcomes the steps taken by the Arab Women Leadership Forum in tackling the issue of gender diversity in the regional setting”.

Key sessions forming a part of the agenda of the two-day forum include “Women’s Leadership in Sustaining Economic Development”; “State of Board Governance and the Imperative for Board Diversity”; “Women Leadership in the Public Sector”; “Opening Doors for Greater Opportunities”; “Families and Boards: Nurturing the Next Generation of Business Leadership”; “Women Leadership in Industry: What it takes?”; “Developing a Policy Framework for Women on Boards” and a closing session on the way forward for the Women in Boards Initiative. The highly interactive sessions will progress as a series of presentations, individual speeches and panel discussions interspersed with audience Q’&’A sessions.
