Up to 100,000 Iftar meals distributed by ‘Zayed Foundation’ in Makkah

ABU DHABI, Up to 100,000 Iftar meals are being distributed by the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works in Makkah over the last 10 days of Ramadan, as part of the Iftar Programme being carried out by the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

A total of 10,000 Iftar meals are currently being offered on a daily basis in Makkah by the Foundation, which is also providing meals inside the UAE and in 45 countries overseas in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

“The Iftar Programme which started in 2005 is part of the charity initiatives carried out by the Foundation during the Holy Month of Ramadan for the benefit of the needy,” said Hamad Salem bin Kardous Al Ameri, Foundation Director-General, who added that the programme fits within the UAE leadership’s keenness to inculcate the culture of giving among several segments of society.

The programme also falls in line the noble humanitarian approach of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, he added, noting that such initiatives are aimed at meeting the essential needs of eligible families and individuals.
